We collect only what's needed to run the product effectively:

Account Data: email, name, and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth — never in plain text).
Substack Connection Data: cookie ID and limited access tokens required to connect your Substack account.
Billing Information: handled directly by LemonSqueezy. We never store or see your full payment details.
Email Information: preferences, delivery activity, and unsubscribe data handled via MailerLite.
Technical Data: basic device/browser info and IP address for security and system reliability (no analytics tracking).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

Create and manage your account.
Process payments and manage subscriptions.
Send essential transactional emails (like billing receipts, login confirmations, and updates).
Send occasional marketing emails (only if you haven't unsubscribed).
Improve security, performance, and reliability.

We don't sell, rent, or trade your information. Ever.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (where applicable)

If you live in a region that requires a legal basis (like the EU or UK), we rely on:

Contract: to provide the service you signed up for.
Legitimate Interests: to secure, support, and improve Stack Sweller.

Payments are handled through LemonSqueezy. LemonSqueezy manages all billing data securely and complies with PCI-DSS standards. We receive only minimal subscription metadata (e.g., payment status, plan type) needed to operate your account.

7. Email Delivery

We use MailerLite to send both transactional and marketing emails. By creating an account, you consent to receive essential account emails. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link inside the email.

8. Data Sharing

We share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate Stack Sweller:

Supabase (authentication and data storage)
LemonSqueezy (payments and subscriptions)
MailerLite (email delivery)

These partners act under our instruction and must protect your data. We do not sell or rent user data.

9. International Data Transfers

Your data may be processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. We use reasonable safeguards (like secure transfers and encryption) to protect data during transit and storage.

10. Data Retention

We keep your account data as long as your account is active. If you cancel or request deletion, we delete or anonymize your data unless required by law to keep it longer (for example, tax or fraud-prevention reasons).

11. Security

We use modern technical and organizational safeguards — including encryption, access control, and Supabase's built-in security — to protect your information. Still, no online system is completely secure, and you use Stack Sweller at your own risk.

12. Your Rights

13. Children's Privacy

Stack Sweller is not for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect or store personal data from minors.

Your Substack account and content are governed by Substack's own terms and privacy policy. We don't control or take responsibility for how Substack or other linked platforms handle your data.

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. The "Effective Date" above will always show the latest version. By continuing to use Stack Sweller after updates, you agree to the revised policy.
